Anant Chaturdashi 2025 – The Grand Festival to Receive Lord Vishnu’s Infinite Blessings
Anant Chaturdashi is the day dedicated to worshipping the infinite form of Lord Vishnu. Devotees celebrate Anant Chaturdashi 2025 with great devotion and enthusiasm on the Chaturdashi tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. This day especially honors the endless and cosmic form of Lord Vishnu. On this auspicious occasion, devotees worship Lord Vishnu’s infinite forms, observe a fast to seek his blessings, and especially wear the Anant Sutra. This sacred thread symbolizes divine protection and infinite blessings from the Lord. Additionally, Anant Chaturdashi marks the grand day of Ganesh Visarjan, when devotees across the country bid an emotional and festive farewell to Lord Ganesha, wishing for his return the following year. This festival is a powerful medium to attract happiness, peace, prosperity, and endless joy in life.
When is Anant Chaturdashi in 2025
In 2025, Anant Chaturdashi will be celebrated on Friday, 6th September.
What is the Significance
According to religious beliefs, observing the Anant Chaturdashi fast grants infinite spiritual merit. This fast is highly auspicious for attaining happiness, prosperity, wealth, and the fulfillment of all desires. Meditating on Lord Vishnu’s infinite form on this day removes all suffering and grants liberation.
How to Perform Anant Chaturdashi Puja
- On Anant Chaturdashi, devotees worship Lord Vishnu in his Anant form seated on Sheshnag. Here are the key steps of the puja:
- Wake up early in the morning, take a bath, and wear clean clothes. Then take a vow for the fast by holding water in your hand.
- Set up a puja platform and place an idol or picture of Lord Vishnu on it. A picture showing Lord Vishnu seated on Sheshnag is most suitable.
- Prepare an Anant Sutra with 14 knots. The thread can be made of silk or cotton. Each knot symbolizes the 14 worlds of Lord Vishnu.
- Bathe Lord Vishnu with Panchamrit (a mix of milk, curd, ghee, honey, and Ganga water). Then offer sandalwood paste, roli, rice, incense, lamp, flowers, and naivedya (kheer, puri, sweets).
Place the Anant Sutra at Lord Vishnu’s feet and worship it. Recite the following mantras during the puja:
ॐ अनंताय नमः
या
अनंत संसार महासमुद्रे मग्नं समभ्युद्धर वासुदेव।
अनंत रूपे विनियोजितं मे ह्यनंतसूत्राय नमो नमस्ते॥
और
Om Anantay Namah
or
Ananta samsāra mahāsamudre magnam samabhyuddhara Vāsudeva।
Ananta rūpe viniyojitaṁ me hyananta-sūtrāya namo namaste॥
- After the puja, men tie the Anant Sutra on their right arm and women on their left arm. This thread is believed to protect from all dangers.
- Listen to or read the story of Anant Chaturdashi. This story is related to the Pandavas and Lord Krishna and explains the importance of the fast.
- Conclude by performing Lord Vishnu’s aarti and praying for the fulfillment of your desires.
Anant Chaturdashi and Ganesh Visarjan
Anant Chaturdashi is the final day of the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival. On this day, devotees immerse Lord Ganesha’s idols following all rituals. They bid farewell with drums, music, and chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya.” The immersion takes place in water, symbolizing Lord Ganesha’s return to Mount Kailash. Anant Chaturdashi conveys the message that the grace of God is infinite, and anyone who surrenders with pure devotion attains endless happiness. This day symbolizes devotion, faith, and trust, bringing positivity and prosperity into life.
