The month of Sawan symbolizes purity and devotion. It brings with it a festive spirit. People celebrate Hariyali Teej on the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha during this sacred month. In some regions, people also know this festival as Shravani Teej or Kajari/Kajli Teej. In 2025, the celebration of Hariyali Teej will take place on Sunday, 27 July 2025. As the name suggests, during this time, nature wears a green veil to welcome the upcoming days. Women decorate swings, and the environment fills with joy and excitement. Hariyali Teej Vrat Katha
Listening to the Teej Katha completes the vow. Lord Shiva narrated this story to Goddess Parvati. He said that Goddess Parvati took 107 births to win Lord Shiva as her husband. In her 108th birth, she took birth as the daughter of King Himalaya, and finally fulfilled her desire. In every birth, she performed deep penance. After her birth, she crafted a Shivlinga out of sand or clay and worshipped it on the third day of the Shukla Paksha of Sawan. Her devotion pleased Lord Shiva, and he accepted her as his wife. Their marriage took place on this very date.
Lord Shiva declared this date to be auspicious and blessed all devotees who sincerely observe this fast with relief from stress and a happy married life.
