How to Observe Mahalaxmi Vrat 2025 – Fulfill Your Wealth-Related Desires
Every year, Mahalaxmi Vrat begins on the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the Bhadrapada month and concludes on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the Ashwin month. This year, Mahalaxmi Vrat 2025 started on 31st August 2025 and will end tomorrow, 14th September 2025 (Sunday). Let’s understand how to conclude Mahalaxmi Vrat properly.
Perform the Puja with This Method (Mahalaxmi Puja Vidhi)
On the last day of Mahalaxmi Vrat, wake up early in the morning, take a bath, and thoroughly clean your puja space. Then, place the idol or picture of Goddess Lakshmi. Also, keep gold and silver coins at the altar. At the beginning of the vrat, devotees tie a thread with 16 knots. On the final day, during evening puja, tie the same red thread with 16 knots around your wrist. After this, light 16 ghee lamps in front of Goddess Mahalaxmi and worship her with devotion. On the next day, place the thread with 16 knots in your locker or treasury. Keeping this sacred thread ensures that your house never faces a shortage of wealth and prosperity.
Mahalaxmi Vrat – Offer These Items
During Mahalaxmi Vrat, always ensure that the offerings are in multiples of sixteen. For example, 16 cloves, 16 cardamoms, or 16 items of adornment. You may also offer kumkum, sugar drops (batasha), conch, lotus seeds, makhana, rice, and flowers to Goddess Lakshmi.
What to Do During the 16 Days of Mahalaxmi Vrat 2025
- Offer 16 flowers or 16 petals to the Goddess every day.
- If possible, chant 16 malas of any Mahalaxmi mantra daily.
- Offer small gifts to 16 different girls during the vrat.
- Recite Shri Suktam.
- Avoid consuming non-vegetarian food.
- Worship the sacred vrat thread daily.
- Chant This Mantra
- While performing Mahalaxmi Puja, chant this mantra to please the Goddess. It invites Goddess Lakshmi to reside in your home.
Mahalaxmi Vrat Mantra:
ॐ श्रीं ह्रीं श्रीं कमले कमलालये प्रसीद प्रसीद श्री ह्रीं श्रीं महालक्ष्म्यै नमः।
Important Things to Remember
Never offer Parijat (Harsingar) flowers to Goddess Lakshmi, as they are forbidden.
Always offer white sweets to the Goddess.
Wear red or pink attire during the puja, as it is considered highly auspicious.
