On the Ninth Day of Navratri - Perform Special Worship of Mata Siddhidatri 

On the ninth day of Navratri, the worship of Mata Siddhidatri is performed. From her name, it is evident that she is considered to bestow all kinds of accomplishments upon her devotees. All powers and achievements are under her domain. According to the Markandeya Purana, worshipping Mata Siddhidatri grants the eight siddhis. These eight siddhis are: Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Ishitva, and Vashitva. With the grace of Mata, these siddhis can be easily obtained by devotees.

Appearance of Mata Siddhidatri

Mata Siddhidatri, who grants accomplishments, is extremely attractive. She has four arms. She holds a mace and a Chakra in two of her hands. She wields weapons to protect her devotees from enemies. In one hand, she holds a lotus and a conch in other, which symbolize prosperity and accomplishments. Worshipping Mata grants all kinds of knowledge.

Goddess Revered by Lord Shiva

Mata Siddhidatri is also a deity revered by Lord Shiva. It is said that only through her worship Lord Shiva got the form of Ardhanarishvara. White and red flowers are highly significant in her worship. Although there is no special offering of Bhog for Mata, offerings should be made according to family traditions. Among the Navadurga, the form of Mata is considered the quickest to please. The worship of Mata should be accompanied by mantra chanting and the recitation of Durga Saptashati.

Special Worship of Maa Durga on Mahaanavami

On Mahaanavami, special Shodashopachara worship of Maa Durga should be performed. She is worshipped in the form of Mahishasuramardini. In some places, it is believed that Maa killed Mahishasura on Mahaanavami. On this day, many people also worship their weapons. In many places, Mata Siddhidatri is considered an incarnation of Maa Saraswati, and musical instruments are worshipped.

Importance of Kanya Puja

On the ninth day of Navratri, Kanya Puja is also performed in many places. In this worship, nine young girls are revered as goddesses, and their feet are worshipped. These young girls are served kheer, halwa, and various sweets. They are given gifts and made happy. It is believed that wherever the young girls leave contentedly, Maa's blessings remain in that household forever.
