Ramghat, Ujjain
Ramghat in Ujjain is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites. The major bath of the Singhast, also known as the Kumbh Mela, which takes place once every 12 years, is held at Ramghat. It is believed that this is the very place where a drop of nectar fell during the battle between the demons and gods in the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan). This spot is considered highly sacred. Not far from here is the Shaktipith of Har Siddhi, and Lord Mahakal, the lord of the universe, resides nearby as well. Ramghat is regarded as the holiest and most liberating place in the Avantika Teerth region. The significance of performing rituals for ancestors (pitra) at Kshipra Ghat is immense. Lord Ram is said to have performed the Shraddh of his father, Dasharath, at this very ghat, which is why the place is called Ramghat. Rituals performed here please the ancestors and bring blessings of prosperity, happiness, and liberation. Offering lamps (Deepdan) on the Amavasya (new moon) day is considered highly beneficial here. It is believed that lighting lamps for the ancestors on this day removes all difficulties in life, especially concerns related to offspring. Performing Brahmin meals and cow service (Gauseva) on Amavasya brings many benefits. If you are facing financial issues in life, participating in cow service and Brahmin meals on Amavasya is highly recommended.
