Do Not Do These Things During Diwali – They May Obstruct Success
Many people perform rituals and worship during the 5 days of Diwali to please Goddess Lakshmi. However, along with these efforts, it’s important to follow certain precautions. Scriptures explain what actions one must avoid during Diwali. If you engage in these forbidden actions, even after performing rituals, you may fail to receive Goddess Lakshmi’s blessings.
Here’s what not to do during the Diwali festival…
Do not wake up late in the morning
Ideally, everyone should wake up early every day. However, many people have the habit of sleeping late. According to scriptures, one must rise during Brahma Muhurat in the days of Diwali. Those who sleep after sunrise during this time do not receive the grace of Goddess Lakshmi.
Do not disrespect parents and elders
During Diwali, ensure that you do not commit any immoral acts under any circumstances. Show respect to parents and elders. Those who disrespect their parents do not receive divine blessings, and poverty remains in their lives. Do not deceive anyone. Do not lie. Treat everyone with love and respect.
Do not keep the house dirty
There should be no dirt in the house during Diwali. Every corner of the house must be clean and tidy. There should be no bad smell in or around the house. Along with cleanliness, use fragrant items to make the house smell pleasant.
Do not get angry
Avoid anger during Diwali and refrain from shouting. Those who get angry or shout during these days do not receive Goddess Lakshmi’s blessings. Maintain a calm, happy, and pure atmosphere at home. Lakshmi resides in homes where peace prevails.

Do not sleep in the evening
Except in special circumstances, one must not sleep during the day or evening. If someone is sick, elderly, or a pregnant woman, they may rest during the day. However, healthy individuals must avoid sleeping at these times. According to scriptures, those who sleep during such hours remain poor.
Do not engage in arguments
During these days, ensure there is no quarrel or dispute at home. All family members should live harmoniously and maintain a joyful atmosphere. Goddess Lakshmi does not bless homes filled with conflict or tension. Avoid arguments both at home and outside.
Do not consume intoxicants
According to scriptures, consuming any form of intoxication during these days is strictly prohibited. Those who consume intoxicants during Diwali remain in poverty. Intoxication can disturb household peace and cause mental stress for all members. This can lead to arguments and prevent proper Lakshmi Puja.
