Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple: The Golden Elephants

Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple is an ancient Shiva temple near Kottayam. It is famous for the "Ezharaponnana" (Seven-and-a-half golden elephants), which are taken out in a grand procession during the annual festival.

Significance: Ezharaponnana
- The Gold: The seven large and one small golden elephant statues were donated by the Travancore King. They weigh roughly 13 kg each.
- The Lamp: An oil lamp inside the temple has been burning continuously for over 450 years.
