Hutheesing Jain Temple: The Marble Marvel

Built in 1848, Hutheesing Jain Temple is the best-known Jain temple in Ahmedabad. Dedicated to Lord Dharmanath (the 15th Tirthankara), this two-storied white marble structure is famous for its exquisite stone carvings and peaceful courtyard.

Significance: Famine Relief

  • History: It was built by a wealthy merchant, Sheth Hutheesing, during a severe famine to provide employment to artisans.
  • Architecture: It features a large dome, 12 pillars, and 52 smaller shrines (Devakulikas) along the corridors.
