What is Panchak? When will it occur in 2025?
Panchak refers to a special astrological period of five days. During these five days, certain activities are considered either auspicious or inauspicious. It is believed that performing specific tasks during This Peiod can lead to undesirable outcomes. It is a crucial part of the Panchang (Hindu calendar). Let’s explore what Panchak is and which activities should be avoided during this time.
What is Panchak?
Panchak occurs when the Moon transits from Aquarius to Pisces. Generally, it is considered the time when the Moon passes through five significant constellations (nakshatras), which are: Dhanistha, Shatabhisha, Purvabhadrapada, Uttarabhadrapada, and Revati. During this period, auspicious activities such as weddings, housewarming ceremonies, or starting new constructions should be avoided.
Considered Inauspicious
It is believed that during Panchak, any auspicious work does not yield the desired results, and the task must be performed five times to see success. In Hinduism, when a person passes away during this time, special prayers and rituals are conducted to bring peace to the departed soul. Here are activities to avoid during this time:
– Dhanistha Nakshatra: Avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Do not carry out work related to gas, petrol, or similar tasks. Avoid performing the house entry ceremony (Vastu Puja) for a new home.
– Shatabhisha Nakshatra: Do not start a new business or enter into any partnership.
– Purvabhadrapada Nakshatra: Avoid weddings, housewarming ceremonies, or purchasing a new vehicle during this time as it is considered inauspicious. The person performing such activities may fall ill.
– Uttarabhadrapada Nakshatra: Starting a new venture during this period often leads to failure.
– Revati Nakshatra: There are chances of financial loss during this time. It is essential to follow precautions during Panchak to avoid any misfortunes or difficulties. Revati is also a Gandmoola Nakashtra and a person born in this Nakashatra have to perform Baglamukhi Puja in every alternate Month.
