Ram Navami 2025 – Date, Story, and How to worship Ram

Ram Navami, the greatest festival of Sanatan Dharma, is associated with the birth of Lord Ram. On this day, the ninth date of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra, Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Ram in the womb of Queen Kaushalya, wife of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya. This day is celebrated as the Ram Navami festival. It holds special significance for all Hindus. This year, Ram Navami will be celebrated on April 6, 2025. However, since Navratri ends on April 7, Ram Navami will also be observed on April 6. You can perform Ram Navami Puja on Sunday, which also marks the day when Goswami Tulsidas began writing the Shri Ram Charit Manas.

Mythological Story of Lord Ram’s Birth

According to mythological stories, Lord Ram incarnated during the Treta Yuga. King Dasharatha of Ayodhya performed the Putreshti Yajna (a ritual for offspring) and received the divine pudding (kheer) from the Yajna. King Dasharatha gave the kheer to his beloved wife, Queen Kaushalya. She shared half of it with Queen Kaikeyi, and both queens then gave half of their portions to Queen Sumitra. As a result of consuming this kheer, on the ninth day of Chaitra, under the Pushya Nakshatra and Cancer Lagna, Lord Ram was born to Queen Kaushalya. Similarly, Queen Kaikeyi gave birth to Bharat, and Queen Sumitra gave birth to Lakshman and Shatrughna.
