Tripura Bhairavi Jayanti is celebrated every year on the Purnima (full-moon) date of the Shukla Paksha of the Margashirsha month. Mother Tripura Bhairavi is one of the ten Mahavidyas. She is also known as the fifth Mahavidya.

The Purnima date for Tripura Bhairavi Jayanti will begin on 4 December at 08:37 AM. This date will end on 5 December at 04:43 AM. Since the Udaya-tithi is not available, Tripura Bhairavi Jayanti will be celebrated on 4 December, Thursday, according to the moonrise time on Purnima.

On 4 December, Brahma Muhurta will remain from 05:10 AM to 06:04 AM. This time is excellent for bathing. The auspicious daytime period, Abhijit Muhurta, is from 11:50 AM to 12:32 PM. Nishita Puja Muhurta is from 11:45 PM to 12:39 AM. Nishita Muhurta is considered ideal for the attainment of tantra-mantra.

Tripura Bhairavi Jayanti in Ravi Yoga

Three auspicious yogas will form on the day of Tripura Bhairavi Jayanti. On that day, Ravi Yoga, Shiva Yoga, and Siddha Yoga will form. Ravi Yoga will remain from 06:59 AM to 02:54 PM. Shiva Yoga will remain from early morning to 12:34 PM, after which Siddha Yoga will form.

Shiva Yoga is considered good for sadhana, chanting, and penance, while work done in Siddha Yoga becomes successful. On the day of Tripura Bhairavi Jayanti, Krittika Nakshatra will remain from early morning to 02:54 PM, after which Rohini Nakshatra will begin.

The Origin Story of Tripura Bhairavi

According to a mythological story, Mahakali once wished to regain her fair complexion and left Kailash. When Shiva saw that Mahakali was not with him, he asked Narada about her. Narada told him that Mother Mahakali had appeared north of Mount Sumeru. By Shiva’s command, Narada reached the Goddess and presented Shiva’s marriage proposal before her. The Goddess became angry, and from her own body, Goddess Bhairavi manifested. According to Tantra Shastra, Tripura Bhairavi is the fierce form of Mahakali.
