2026 Vibhuvana Sankashti Chaturthi

According to Hindu Panchang, the Sankashti of Krishna Paksha of Adhik Maas is celebrated as Vibhuvana Sankashti. Due to falling in Adhik Maas, Vibhuvana Sankashti is considered very rare because it comes after every two and a half years. Vibhuvana Sankashti can fall in any lunar month, so no specific month is fixed for it. But the change in the month does not affect its name, so if Adhik Maas falls in any month, then Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha is celebrated as Vibhuvana Sankashti.

On this day, Vibhuvan Ganesha form of Lord Ganapati is worshipped. Vibhuvana means 'Present in all three Lokas' or 'Illuminating all three Lokas'. Hence Vibhuvana Ganesha means Lord Ganesha who is present in all three Lokas, i.e. worlds.

Although the rules of fasting and worship on Vibhuvana Sankashti are the same as other Sankashti fasts, but on this day Coconut Laddus are specially offered to Lord Ganesha. Due to it being an Adhik Maas, the chanting, penance, worship and fasting etc. done on this day yield many times more results than the normal days of Sankashti fast. This excellent fast fulfills all wishes and removes all troubles.
