Worship of Skandamata for Blessings of Offspring Happiness

On the fifth day of Navratri, the worship of Skandamata is performed. She received this name when she became the mother of Skand (Kartikeya). This year, the day for worshiping Skandamata will be April 2, 2025. Worshiping the goddess brings courage, strength, and self-confidence.

Appearance of the Goddess

Skandamata’s form is truly extraordinary and full of wonder. Her vehicle is a lion. She always holds Skand (Kartikeya) in her lap. She holds a lotus flower in each of her two hands. She is also often seen in the Var Mudra. Sometimes, she is depicted seated in a Padmasana posture. In some images, she is shown sitting on a lotus, while in others, she is riding a lion.

Skandamata’s Worship Procedure

On the fifth day of Navratri, after taking a bath, wear clean clothes.
After the bath, take a resolve (Sankalp) for the worship of the goddess.
Before worshiping Skand mata, worship Lord Ganesha and Kartikeya.
You can chant a mala of mantras for Lord Ganesha and Kartikeya.
Offer seasonal fruits, kheer, and halwa as prasad to the goddess and Skand.
Performing Panchopchar Puja of Skandamata is very auspicious.
After the worship, recite the Durga Saptashati for further benefits.
